Brian, Stephen and Crispy wander through another steaming pile of WhatTheCast. Will Cloverfield be the next Snakes on a Plane? Why does our non-love of the Pixar movie Cars bring forth the wrath of the Dubshack? Will Crispy ever stop playing IndestructoTank? All this and more on Episode 25 of WhatTheCast … show notes after the break.
- Stephen’s just wild about IndestructoTank! … and now Crispy is hooked
- Dubshack had a problem with our unhappy feelings on the movie Cars, but we stand by our position. Hear his comments on Farpoint Recap, Episode 4
- Brian will cry during some movies, and not just because they cost $10
- The New York Post is declaring Cloverfield to be Snakes on a Plane before it’s even out. Is this bad non-review justified?
- Crispy rolls Reign of Fire into our Cloverfield discussion. Brian remembers blogging about that movie and some serious things that bothered him.
- Stephen gives a vary fast WGA-free recap of The Golden Globe Awards.
- The last Harry Potter movie cash cow is being milked dry … book seven’s movie will be split into two parts.

I was just listening to you guys talk about Cloverfield back a few weeks ago… because I don’t catch up with my podcasts but about once a month. I said “‘Sup” before your child-star there was out of diapers. You know, I could just hang here and kibbitz while listening to the current podcast. Yeah. Because you know me, you know I’m not stalking you, you don’t think I’m a crazy bitch.
Srsly, as Ceiling Cat says, we have to MEET… at least me and Brian. Because, Asai was talking you up at Tyme’s house, and I was going to GaFilk, … but I ran out of money. You’re having my life, only, you know, cooler and more like reality.
Right now, I am at my mom’s house, waiting to close on our house in the country and trying to improve my financial status… It is now a three-pronged attack of increasing money-making opportunities, trying to improve my performance at my current job, and trying to keep the IRS from EATING ME!!!
Remember that you promised to tell me what was going on with DCTV… See, now that sounds too whiny and pleady…. Write me, Dammit. Ick. I suck at this. I Can Haz Email?
Thanks for the plug guys.
I still disagree. Cars is a social commentary on how America has become too obsessed with the shiny and new, and forgotten about the beauty of our roots. I never saw Iron Giant, but The Incredibles was a silly movie about super heroes that find themselves irrelivant. How many times have I seen that story before.
I do agree that you can make an excellent film on less money. Unfortunately we as Americans look too blindly at the glam, and resist anything with substance. Thats why Serenity failed. I’m probably not the only person who watches it three times a day, but who cares about that, it didn’t make billions of dollars. Which seems to be the only way of weighing success in this world anymore.
Dude, I bite you now. It’s a BIweekly podcast, not a SEMIweekly podcast. I have a hard enough time with this stuff without you confusing me.
“Dude, I bite you now. It’s a BIweekly podcast, not a SEMIweekly podcast. I have a hard enough time with this stuff without you confusing me.”
It’s only BiWeekly when I stay on schedule. SemiWeekly gives me more wiggle room
Wow, if I used that excuse my life would sure be a lot simpler… No kidding at all.
