Episode 66: Poolcast

Summer time and the living is easy … we take the cast poolside with our friends from Dragon*ConTV to discuss all things geek. Will Knowing make The Happening look like an Oscar contender? Will Crispy give up the charm of Little Big Planet for the sheer awesome of Prototype? Will Dragon*Con kill Brian? Will Stephen ever finish Bioshock? Why is our guest Patrick Freeman chasing a frog?

All this and more is revealed when WhatTheCast goes aquatic in this poolside episode …

Episode 65: Big Daddy Geisha

The cast is back after some summer vacation. Brian was in San Francisco, Crispy was in a cave and Stephen was trying to beat up Big Daddy in Bioshock (he’s a bit behind in the videogame world).

In this episode our podcasters discuss TV, movies, SyFy and geek culture’s latest nonsense. Show links are available after the break.

Episode 64: WhatTheClub

Brian, Crispy, Patrick and Stephen are back to talk about … well, everything they can find in geek culture.

On this episode … Trunk Club (a.k.a. Pants Club For Men), our ideas on other internet clubs (well, mostly Patrick’s ideas), the horror that is a Jossless Buffy, a quick WhatTheCon update for Dragon*Con 2009, geeking out over E3 news, bankrupt Transformers, late night with new hosts and much more.

WhatTheVideo: Jonathan Coulton, Paul and Storm

Brian (the dude in the kilt) & Crispy (the dude you can’t see in the video) get Jonathan Coulton & Paul and Storm on video. Yes, you never see these guys on the internet, do you?.

This is a lot like the audio interview we just posted, except with moving pictures thanks to our cute little Kodak Zi6. If Kodak gets us a sponsorship Brian promises to use it more :)

Interview: Jonathan Coulton, Paul and Storm

Brian & Crispy managed to trap Jonathan Coulton in the room while we interviewed Paul and Storm. The result is a great interview where these men of (mostly) comic music talk about harmony, albums and what happens when you mail monkeys across these United States.

Update: the video version is also available, now that I mastered the quirks of the Kodak Zi6 with my video editing software (yes, I’m totally shopping for a Kodak sponsorship).

Episode 63: Spock Throwback

Brian wanted to send this podcast back in time so it would be released on time … but J.J. Abrams is bogarting all of the red matter (bastard). Here’s the latest episode full of Zune, Trek, Dollhouse and SCIENCE! Show notes after the break …

WhatTheSample

Brian’s a little to tired to edit tonight, so instead we’re posting our sample segment of the show. It’s longer than a promo, shorter than a regular show and perfect for explaining to your confused friends why people listen to this show.

Episode 62: Go Ninja, Go Ninja, Go

Patrick may have been kidnapped by a Nigerian prince, but the rest of the cast is here to talk about all things geek-a-rific. Brian, Stephen and Crispy talk about way too many topics …

  • Are “real life superheroes” any better of an idea than Marvel’s “Diva” comic?
  • Should we ask a ninja about the ninja rap?
  • Star Trek should be all kinds of awesome (that’s what we talk about in the next episode)
  • There are other movies in space, like “Moon” and “District 9
  • There are too many conventions on Memorial Day!

Plus final thoughts and lots of chances to send us hatemail!
