Episode 95: Delay of Game of Thrones

Share

Yes, it’s been a while since we did a podcast (stupid personal lives). This episode was recorded in early June, so there’s little chance we spoiled any of your favorite shows or movies.

Brian talks about Thor. Crispy talks about Brian’s inability to watch Doctor Who or Game of Thrones in a timely manner. Stephen talks about robot helicopters and their inability to take over the world in a gentle breeze. Then they all talk about (in no particular order) LinkedIn, Dragon*Con guests, LA Noire, being protested by the KKK, Misfits of Science and summer TV programs that are keeping your favorite time slot warm.

Episode 94: Six Degrees of Mark

Share

It’s another walk through the minds of nerds … WhatTheCast delivers over 45 minutes of Doctor Who reviews, musical chairs with Game of Thrones and thoughts on Thor. Plus we introduce the “Six Degrees of Mark Sheppard” game in our WhatTheCon segment. The cast also talks about the indie film “Zero Charisma“, answers listener questions from Twitter and listens to Brian mangle names from “Lord of the Rings” in our Final Thoughts segment.

Episode 93: Spoiler Portal

Share

On this episode of audio weirdness …

  • Crispy & Stephen get spoilery as they show their love for Portal 2 … you monster.
  • Game of Thrones and Doctor Who are firing on all cylinders (and we may give out a few spoilers … whoops)
  • WhatTheCon talks about Dragon*Con (again). We have some great guests, including Jonathan Coulton (you know, that guy from Portal 2).
  • Brian unplugs from TV to watch some cool webseries … check out Mortal Kombat: Legacy and Pioneer One if you haven’t exceeded your bandwidth caps.
  • Crispy, Brian & Stephen wish Jim Cantore would check into FourSquare so our friends know when to duck and cover.
  • Of course there’s more, so why don’t you listen …

Note: we recorded this episode before a large wave of tornadoes swept through Alabama and Georgia. We have friends affected by the storms, but fortunately none of them lost their lives. Others were not so lucky. Please consider giving prayers, thoughts, blood, time or money to help those in need.

Episode 92: Zach Snyder Owes Me Ten Bucks

Share

The cast discusses too many things! This podcast must have too much content to be legal … it’s all about Sucker Punch (including Brian’s attempt to create a drinking game for this movie), WonderCon (even though we released the episode after the con is over, whoops), the Governator (the fail is strong with this one) and a lot of TV news.

We wish *this* was an April Fools Joke

Share

Yes, if you haven’t figured it out, Episode 91 of WhatTheCast was our April Fools Joke. Sorry if you have out theme song stuck in your head. A real episode with our confusion over the mess that is Sucker Punch will be out shortly.

Meanwhile, we found this trailer for a new Stan Lee project that is sadly not a joke …

… not since Steampunk Sarah Palin have we feared more for the future of comics.

Episode 91: Sucker Special

Share

Yes, you found the April Fools Episode. Sorry, we had to do something.

Episode 92 is the  real deal, coming soon to an MP3 player near you.

It’s a special episode of WhatTheCast, where we talk about how we all got surprised by the movie Sucker Punch. Crispy loves the soundtrack, Brian loves the story, Stephen explains the science of dreams and Patrick compares it to the Blue Man Group. Got comments … hatemail@whatthecast.com.

Episode 90: Loud Food

Share

It’s another “scotch cast” from Brian’s living room as the cast debriefs you on our latest Dragon*Con staff meeting. It’s a show about IKEA, Beer, PAX East, Terrible Movies, Booth Babes That Aren’t Booth Babes, Television Cancellations, Dragon*Con, Scotch and Germans wearing funny hats. Seriously …

Did Microsoft Kill Our Zune Jokes?

Share

Bad news for MP3 comedians everywhere … according to this engadget story, Microsoft is killing the Zune hardware and moving to a software platform. This would turn the Zune ‘brand’ into an add-on for the Microsoft mobile phone OS. I guess we can hold all of our Zune jokes for the next generation of Nokia phones running WP7.

We’ll be sure to talk about this and other nerd stories on our next episode, scheduled to record March 19th. It’s one of our “scotch cast” episodes, with a live and moderately intoxicated audience. Send us your questions while you’re still sober … feedback@whatthecast.com.
